The First Jewish Americans: Freedom and Culture in the New World opens at the New York Historical Society in Manhattan on Thursday, October 27.

Former Center for Southern Jewish Culture director Adam Mendelsohn and current directors Dale Rosengarten and Shari Rabin collaborated, with others, on a previous version of the exhibit, By Dawn’s Early Light: Jewish Contributions to American Culture from the Nation’s Founding to the Civil War, which ran at the Princeton University Art Gallery in the Spring.

Both shows are based primarily upon loans from the Princeton University Jewish American Collection, gift of Mr. Leonard L. Milberg, Class of 1953, and Mr. Leonard L. Milberg’s personal collection. For more information, click here.
